Dr. Somit Prasad
BDS MFDS RCS (Eng) Dip Imp Dent (Ed) GDC Number: 81181
After qualifying at Guy's Dental Hospital in London in 2002 Somit spent a year at Guy's and Kings College Hospital, working as a paediatric dentist. Gaining significant experience in treating children and nervous patients so early in his career has helped shape his firmly-held belief that prevention is better than cure.
Now, after dealing with major trauma and complex surgery at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department at the Royal London Hospital, achieving a qualification in Intravenous sedation and spending over 10 years as a dental practitioner, Somit is involved in everything from basic day-to-day restorative work to complicated cosmetic dentistry, invisible braces and implants.
His particular skills and knowledge, gentle nature and extensive experience in oral surgery, have gained him an exceptional reputation for his treatment of nervous patients who have historically been anxious about dental work.
Highlighting his commitment to professional development, Somit became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England having gained his Membership to the Faculty of Dental Surgeons (MFDS) diploma in 2005.
In September 2016 he was awarded a diploma in Implant Dentistry (DIP IMP DENT) from the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Alongside his clinical work, he also is a clinical lecturer at the prestigious Barts and the London Hospitals in the Oral Surgery faculty. He has also been asked to be an examiner for The Royal College of Surgeons.
He is also a member of the British Dental Association (BDA) and The British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is now qualified in Dental Acupuncture and Facial Aesthetics. He is also a certified 'Inman Aligner Dentist'. The Inman Aligner is a revolutionary removeable appliance that can straighten teeth quickly.
As a qualified Invisalign practitioner, Somit is able to advise, treat and fit 'Invisalign' invisible braces. He is also trained and fully qualified to place and restore dental implants, having completed a highly regarded Surgical Implantology course at the Tatum Institute where he was personally taught by Professor Hilt Tatum, the pioneer of dental implants for the last 40 years.
In his life outside surgery hours, Somit is a keen musician playing both the saxophone and piano, with a particular interest in jazz, and can often be heard singing to patients during treatments, much to their amusement! He is also an enthusiastic photographer, husband and father of two beautiful boys.
