Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is one of the most commonly requested cosmetic dental treatments, providing phenomenal results. When performed by a registered dentist, teeth whitening is a safe procedure, and the bleaching agent is safe for teeth and gums. The whitening effect won’t last as long if you smoke or drink red wine, tea or coffee, which can all stain your teeth; however, brushing twice a day will help reduce the build-up of stains. It is best practice to see a hygienist before and after you start your whitening treatment to help remove stains and maintain your smile.

At Hollyhedge Dental, we offer a choice of both in-practice and at-home whitening options.

Step one: First, the dentist will need to see you for a dental exam to check the health of your teeth and gums and ensure they are suitable for whitening. If everything is ok, we will then take impressions of your teeth to create custom-made trays for home use.

We will also discuss the current shade of your teeth on our chart and what you can expect to achieve.

Step two: Once your trays are ready, you will return to the practice to collect them and the bleaching gel to use at home. The trays will be worn for at least three weeks overnight, and you can expect to see results within a few days (provided our instructions are followed.)

Throughout the appointment, your dentist will show you how to use them and check if the trays fit correctly and comfortably.

Enlighten at home and in practice.

Our premium whitening package with Enlighten Evolution Whitening guarantees Vita shade B1 (the lightest shade on the dentist guide chart) for every patient and long-lasting whitening results with low sensitivity.

Step one: After your initial consultation, your dentist will determine your suitability for teeth whitening and, if suitable, arrange a bespoke mould to fit your teeth perfectly.

Step two: Wear the trays overnight for two weeks.

Step three: Visit your dentist for the final whitening stage, a 40-minute bleaching treatment.

To maintain your new smile, you will be given then enlighten Evo-White toothpaste or tooth serum to protect your teeth further. You will have your trays to keep, so you can also top up your whitening when required.

How does it work?

The active ingredient passes through the dental enamel, breaking down stains by chemical oxidation. The process can take some time, so finishing the treatment as directed by your dentist is essential.
